Coming soon! Revisions of the American Dream!

This new show is a special event! The curator, Zach Pearl, began working at Susan Hensel Gallery last year as an intern. He now works here as my gallery assistant, keeping me sane and taking over more of the administration weekly. This show is HIS baby! I am pleased to have him work here on so many levels and very pleased to support him in presenting this national show!

June 6th—July 7th, 2008
Opening Reception Friday June 6th @ 7p.m.

The work featured will represent the gamut of media, from an innovative and interactive sculpture by Massachusetts native Matthew Mosher to the surrealist photography of Appleton, Wisconsin's Andy Kincaid.

The Wedding Reception was Delicious

Friday, May 2, the wedding reception was delicious! Betsy bakes a 5 layer wedding cake. She learned about baking "fancy stuff" when her daughter was in middle school...and insisted on studying the fine art of pastry! A bit of it rubbed off on Mom!

Late in the evening a couple of other guests arrived! Mr and Mrs Teddy Bear have gone next door to visit with my god-daughter Lisa and her little sister. That is their proud Granny Cathy keeping them from flying away!

Much to see and do! First, read this grand article by Geoff Herbach about the TIC reading.
It was published on www.mnartists.org on March 10.

Reader's Art 8 opened March 14. What a beautiful show! 20 artists from 11 states and Canada sent glorious books, most using handmade paper. To choose theses twenty artists and their 42 artworks, I had to view around 200 jpg's and slides. What a process that was! So much good work is being done, it really was daunting to choose.

If you go to the gallery website, you can see more pictures of the individual artists work and the show installed.

Celestial Navigation..the final programs

Talking Image Connection wrote their hearts out and read the evening of February 23 to a packed house. Most of the time the gallery space does not seem "too small." This was one of the other times... The reading was strong, exciting, at times uproarious, and just plain wonderful. The chapbook sold out immediately.

The final event, before pack-up, was a breakfast hosted by Karen Hanmer for friends of the gallery and fans of her work. The fine fruits, pastries and excellent coffee were catered by the Firefly Bistro2, right next door to the gallery. We were especially pleased to feed the teenagers of the Minnesota Center for Book Arts In Design program.

Do watch this space. Reader's Art 8 is coming soon!
